Arm Of Mimi – Amy Pay’s Writing Portfolio

This website is a portfolio of my published non-fiction work.

I have always loved writing and anything that allows my creativity to flow.

Non-Fiction and Journalism

I am a freelance journalist, mainly contributing to Buzz Magazine. This involves writing music, book, film and stage reviews as well as informational and promotional articles for a readership of around 100,000 people across Wales. My work is published in their monthly magazine, their annual guides and on their website.

From time to time I write for other publications, newspapers and websites. For nearly four years I was a staff writer at  The Line Of Best Fit [www.tlobf.com], a leading online music magazine focusing on independent & alternative music from around the world. I wrote many music reviews, concert reviews and informational news articles as well as interviewing many bands and artists.

Since Winter 2010, I have been a media volunteer for Gofal, a leading mental health charity. After undergoing training, where I learnt about the structure of the world of media, different formats of media and how one should approach their audience through using the media, I have used my position to talk about mental health stigma and discrimination. I have had my articles published in Wales’ biggest newspaper The Western Mail, The Bevan Foundation’s magazine and various other places.

Fiction and Creative Writing

As well as factual work , I enjoy writing creative pieces in my free time. Two of my pieces were published in books in 2009, both following success in worldwide competitions.

My short story ‘Deliveries’ was published in Leaf Books Young Writers Anthology.

My poem ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ is published in the Artnik book Imperfection; it was a winning entry in Fault Magazine’s  Myspace competition.
